 Terrafix
systems are designed to be flexible to meet a wide range of customer requirements. They
comprise unique combinations of navigation sensors, mobile data terminals, communications
and base station mapping, messaging and interface functions.
Mobile equipment uses the signals from the Global Positioning System, GPS, satellites
to calculate a position anywhere on the earth. This is managed by an intelligent
electronic unit to provide position, speed, direction and other sensory outputs.
Position data is transferred to the base monitoring station using
an appropriate communications link. This may be the users
own network or proprietary systems such as GSM, GPRS, 3G, TETRA,
Mobitex, Paknet or for world wide coverage, Inmarsat C or D+.
The base station displays vehicle data on high-resolution map screens which can be
networked across an organisations offices or sites. Digital map databases are
installed to provide detail as required from a general overview of the users
operational area down to highly detailed street level mapping.
Mapping tools allow zooming and movement around the maps including postcode databases
and user defined objects. User objects provide facilities for adding text and picture
files to any location on the map display.
All data received by the system is logged and can be replayed for analysis. All
messages are logged and archived with all transmission and receipt times recorded.
Interfaces to other systems are available so that command and control or booking data
can be sent to in-vehicle terminals in a single seamless transaction.
