These range from the basic GPS tracking unit up to in-vehicle computing with mapping, messaging and multiple communications links.

Mobile equipment can be provided which automatically transmits positions at rates dependent upon the vehicle’s status or the state of sensors fitted to the vehicle. In addition it will respond to direct requests from the base for information or commands to activate controls in the vehicle.
