WELSH AMBULANCE SERVICE AWARD TERRAFIX MAJOR CONTRACT FOR MOBILE DATA AND TRACKING SYSTEM
Spring 2009 saw Welsh Ambulance announce the award of the fully integrated tracking and PC based in-cab terminals contract to Terrafix Ltd.
Using a multi-bearer communication platform the in-vehicle system will cover the whole landmass of Wales giving a full mobile computing and vehicle tracking solution.
In a competitive tender, Terrafix were chosen as the company with the most advantageous bid in terms of the price, technological merit, quality and system support.
The award worth in excess of £4m is to supply, install , integrate and maintain Terraix Vehicle Computer (TVC 3000) with bespoke custom software to the whole of Welsh Ambulance Service A&E and PCS fleet.
The contract is a result of 18 months close co-operation between Welsh Ambulance and terrafix during which time bother the hardware and software was refined to meet the exacting standards required by Welsh Ambulance Service.
Installation of the system commenced in the summer of 2009 for the 701 vehicles with completion by the end of 2009.
The TVC 3000 will provide dispatch, satellite navigation, and status functions for the ambulance.
Chris Green, Managing Director of Terrafix Ltd, stated,
"We are delighted after all the hard work to be awarded this contract. We will be installing a complete in-vehicle computing and mobile data system, which is designed to assist the Service in achieving their performance standards.
The electronic functions within an ambulance such as AVL, Dispatch, SatNav, are linked within the vehicle and exported to all the controlling points within the Welsh Ambulance Service.
The system will enable crews to reach the patient more effectively and provide the service with automatically captured vital statistical data."
