Scottish Ambulance Service
The summer of 2002 saw Terrafix supplying the first ever GPRS Automatic Vehicle
Location System to Scottish Ambulance Service.
Scottish Ambulance Service are one of the largest ambulance services in the world with over 500 frontline emergency vehicles and over 500 PTS and other associated vehicles.
Utilising GPRS will allow Scottish Ambulance to update their vehicle positions every 13 seconds under all operational conditions. The AVL system covers the whole landmass of Scotland including Shetlands, Orkney, Western and all other islands and provides a full tracking solution monitored by multiple control rooms in Edinburgh, Inverness, Paisley and Dundee.
In 2006 /2007 Terrafix have now increased the Scottish Ambulance capability by installing the vehicles with a TMC 1450 in the front of the vehicle as a Mobile Data Terminal, which will facilitate the dispatch, satellite navigation, and status functions for the ambulance and in the rear the TMC 1450 will provide and an Electronic Patient Report form as well as clinical support data for the crews.
