East of England Ambulance
Essex Ambulance and East Anglia Ambulance are part of the East of England Ambulance amalgamation.
Both services chose Terrafix to provide their Mobile Data and Automatic Vehicle Location Systems.
In Essex the system initially operated using VHF as the communications bearer and then in 2008 upgraded the system to operate as a multi bearer system using GPRS as a primary bearer with Airwave as its backup. Their A&E fleet are equipped with the Terrafix TDT 2000 and Satellite Navigation Data Interface and a TIU communications module, which provides them with full two-way status, messaging, guidance and navigation.
In East Anglia the system operates using the Transcom network for their mobile data and is in the process of upgrading to operate using GRPS and Airwave as backup. Their A&E vehicles are also equipped with the Terrafix TDT 2000 and Satellite Navigation Data Interface and a TIU communications module, which provides them with full two-way status, messaging, guidance and navigation.
